Hiking at Bukit Tabur (Crystal Hill)

Hiking at Bukit Tabur (Crystal Hill)
Taman Melawati, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Bukit Tabur is a hill located in Taman Melawati, Malaysia. It is also known locally as Bukit Hangus or in English Crystal Hill. The hill is very prominent as it is part of Klang Gates Quartz Ridge.

Climbing up the hill, less than 1,000 metres (16 kilometres) only, is a crystal quartz ridge.
Climbers enter the hiking trail from Kampung Klang Gates, 50 metres from the gates of the Klang Gates Dam, at the back of Taman Melawati.

Climbing up the hill, visitors can see some 200 species of small coniferous-like trees, shrubs, creepers, orchids and moss, including 5 endemic species of plants. Contained within much of the limestone are beautiful quartz crystals, but many which have been chipped off by visitors or hikers.

Spectacular view of the dam during sunrise ....

While hiking here at Bukit Tabur, dusky langurs can often be spotted making a ruckus among the trees, while wild boars frequently dart away at the sound of footsteps.

Spectacular view of the dam with the sunrise …

The most popular route, Tabur West, begins at left from the Klang Gates entrance. This is followed by Tabur East, which can be accessed by climbing down the hill next to the Klang Gates entrance (at right), crossing a small stream.

Bukit Tabur has becomes local favor hiking spot for regular and new visitor due to the easy access and natural richness near by the city.

Walk along the trail, you can enjoy the breathtaking views of the Kuala Lumpur skyline.

Be cautious, about Bukit Tabur some time ago, that some people fell to their death while climbing. So, please be careful and make sure that you are fit and had enough sleep for the day before you climb.

At some parts, you will have to climb a vertical wall of granite rocks which really was  challenging.

Love the landscape despite the difficult climb!

During the mornings, mist rising from the ground from the warmth of the sun envelop the landscape in a carpet of white, providing a surreal atmosphere.

The hike is about 3 to 4 hours ….

It is a very enjoyable hike as long as you remember to be careful and stay low when

you climb some of the rocky parts.

The climb up-wards was quite challenging. It took about 1 and half hour to reach the mid-way point, afterwards it will gets even more challenging.

Some visitors hike up in the dark just to catch the sunrise moment, and some in the late afternoon for sunset.

The peak offers a magnificent view of the dam and Kuala Lumpur City.

Interesting climb that I have experienced other than the magnificent Mt. Kinabalu.

Hope you enjoy viewing some of my favourite shots taken during my climb to Crystal Hill.

The End!
